Amazon released its own app store to compete with Google Play Store and Apple App Store on March 22, 2011. Amazon Appstore is an app store for Android-compatible platforms operated by Amazon.com Services, LLC, a subsidiary of Amazon.
The company made the app store to give hype or power to their failed Fire Phone. On the 20th of August 2025, Amazon will discontinue its app store from Android.
The company sent notification to developers that they will no longer be able to submit new apps on App store.
Well, NoBody knows what exactly will happen—will the app simply stop working, or will it throw a notice that the app store is discontinued? We guess we’ll have to wait and see.
The company also said that they will also discontinue its Coin Digital currency, which could be used to purchase games and apps on the App Store.
The company added that the app store will still be functional on its own devices, such as Fire TV and Fire Tablet.
Starting August 20, 2025, you will no longer have access to the Appstore on your Android device.
We will also be discontinuing the Amazon Coins program on August 20, 2025. As of Feb 20, 2025, Amazon Coins are no longer available for purchase. The company said on their support page.

Reason
Last year, a malicious Android spyware application, “BMI CalculationVsn” was discovered on the Appstore. Acting as a simple health tool but in the background stealing data from devices.
The application was discovered by McAfee Labs researchers, who notified Amazon, leading to the application being removed from the Amazon App Store. Maybe that is the reason to discontinue App Store or Maybes omething else
